Another way for me to serve my clients.

Times change and flexibility is key in supporting clients.

When you mention therapeutic counselling to someone who is not familiar with it, often they get a picture of a client lying on a couch with a note taking psychiatrist listening intently. The reality is that counselling is often not like this and in the most part it is a partnership between client and counsellor that ultimately benefits the client in addressing emotional pain.

Traditionally, therapeutic counselling was always face to face in a comfortable therapy room somewhere but then in 2020 this changed due to the pandemic and the traditionalists in the counselling world were forced to offer more remote ways of delivering counselling using apps such as Zoom or delivering counselling over the phone.

As a result of the change in the way that counsellors work coinciding with my own accreditation, I have found that delivering counselling online has been surprisingly beneficial to clients as well as perhaps being convenient for them as they don’t have to travel to me. In these modern times corporate companies offer their employees access to counselling via Employee Assistance Programs and one of the suppliers into those programs is Betterhelp.

Betterhelp delivers counselling support via video calls, telephone and even messaging on their dedicated platform and I recently got accepted to be one of many therapeutic counsellors on this platform. It provides a platform from which I can deliver my work to more people who need support. I will still be working within the ethical framework of the National Counselling Society the only thing that is different is the ‘how’ I deliver counselling to some of my clients.

I will still be delivering counselling in my usual ways but if you are considering engaging with me and you are a member of Betterhelp then you will be able to find me on that platform and I will happily work with you on this platform if this makes counselling more accessible for you.
